LTU Teaching Candidates Prepare for the Future with Swivl

Louisiana Tech University’s Clinical Residency and Recruitment Center (CRRC) runs an immersive full‑year TEAM residency to prepare teacher candidates through co‑teaching apprenticeships, but needed a way to deliver consistent observation and high‑quality feedback across partner schools while reducing travel and increasing opportunities for self‑reflection. To meet that challenge, Louisiana Tech adopted Swivl’s Teams and Robots as their primary observation and feedback tool, pairing the platform with the Danielson Framework for Teaching.

Swivl Robots are checked out by residents and mentors and videos are annotated using Swivl Teams’ rubrics, time‑stamped comments, and downloadable reports, enabling multi‑observer review and targeted coaching. The program scaled from a 2014 pilot to 15 partner districts, and today 60 residents have used Swivl to upload 500 videos, create 2,000 comments, and share 300 videos—reducing travel time, improving feedback quality, supporting mentor endorsement evidence, and strengthening resident self‑reflection through Swivl.
