Austec Building Automation cuts Hyperdome energy costs by 12.6% with Switch Automation

Austec Building Automation, a leading open technology provider of BACnet Building Management Systems, faced a significant challenge managing energy consumption and peak demand at the Hyperdome Shopping Centre. The site's complex layout with multiple chiller plants and power transformers made load management difficult, with peak demand accounting for nearly half of its total electricity costs. To address this, Austec partnered with Switch Automation and deployed the Switch Platform to enhance their existing BMS into a comprehensive Building & Energy Management System (BEMS).

The solution implemented by Switch Automation provided advanced analytics and visualizations, enabling Austec to implement a peak demand strategy that automatically load-shed devices and optimize equipment operation without affecting tenant comfort. This resulted in substantial energy savings, reducing costs by 12.6% and achieving $337,516 in annual savings for the Hyperdome site alone. Switch Automation's platform also facilitated a 7.7% peak demand reduction, empowering Austec to deliver a true comprehensive building optimization solution.
