Xenos - Customer Case Study

Xenos, a retail chain with about 300 stores in the Netherlands and Germany and plans to grow to 400 stores and 5,500 SKUs, needed to expand its Waalwijk distribution centre to handle more product variety, faster replenishment and limited labour availability. To maintain its family-grouping picking method and optimise space and ergonomics, Xenos selected Swisslog Holding to provide an automated goods‑to‑man solution and act as main contractor.

Swisslog Holding delivered a 36 m high‑bay warehouse (22,500 pallet locations) with six Vectura pallet stacker cranes, ProPick depalletising and order‑pick stations, QuickMove conveyors and a SmartCarrier shuttle (11 lifts, 55 carriers, 27,000 trays to 30,000 locations), integrated with Centric Locus WMS via Swisslog’s WCS. The installation improved pick performance by more than 50% (up to 500 picks/hour per station), processes 2,500 trays/hour outfeed, cut store unloading time by 3–4 hours per delivery, dramatically reduced picker walking distances (previously >1,000 m) and has operated essentially error‑free, enabling Xenos’ growth without additional headcount.
