Virto Group boosts frozen storage to 57,000 pallets with Swisslog

Virto Group, a market leader in deep-frozen vegetables, faced the challenge of increasing storage capacity and efficiency in its new warehouse while maintaining flexibility and availability. The company entrusted Swisslog to automate its facility in Funes, Spain, using the PowerStore high density pallet shuttle system to meet these demands.

Swisslog implemented a solution featuring 31 AisleCarrier shuttles across ten floors, 14 elevators, and a dispatch buffer for 204 pallets. This automated system allows Virto Group to manage a flow of 350 pallets per hour and store approximately 57,000 pallets, increasing its capacity to hold between 50 and 70 million kilos of frozen product. The results for Virto Group include a highly flexible operation, increased storage capacity, improved internal processes, and the capability to meet increased market demand, all within a temperature-controlled environment of -22 degrees Celsius.
