The Absolut Company in Åhus needed to scale distribution to meet steadily growing global demand, a broader product range (around 18 flavors plus core and premium SKUs), and seasonal peaks while keeping operations lean. To achieve greater flexibility, capacity and efficiency, The Absolut Company partnered with Swisslog Holding to modernize and automate its Åhus distribution center.

Swisslog Holding delivered a fully automated solution including vehicle unloading conveyors, pallet conveyor systems, automated pallet warehousing (21,200 pallet locations served by 10 Vectura stacker cranes), automatic de-palletizers, slat conveyors, shuttle cars and BoxControl/ACS. The installation lets the DC operate with just 12 employees, handles 90 pallets/hour (150 p/h full capacity), enables larger batch production, improves inventory accuracy and transport flows, and reduces stoppages through local service and spare-part support.
