Rusta - Customer Case Study

Rusta, a rapidly expanding Nordic retailer (15–20% annual growth), needed a modern central distribution center to consolidate operations, increase capacity and support continued store and e‑commerce growth. To meet this challenge Rusta partnered with Swisslog Holding, which was tasked with the design, automation and integration of a new high‑bay warehouse and material‑handling solution, including Vectura stacker cranes and Swisslog’s Material Flow Control System (MFCS).

Swisslog Holding delivered overall integration of a 65,500 m² facility with a fully automated high‑bay warehouse (64,000 pallet locations), nine Vectura stacker cranes, a 440 m ProMove conveyor, 20 ergonomic pick stations, energy‑recuperation drives and MFCS control, plus project management, training and service. The implementation centralized Rusta’s supply chain, enabled closure of eleven smaller facilities, now handles about 3,000 incoming pallets and ~1,600 picks per day (plus ~400 home‑delivery orders), improved productivity, accuracy and energy efficiency, and has increased capacity to support near‑term growth with a fast expected ROI.
