The Swedish and Norwegian department store chain Rusta was experiencing rapid annual growth of 15-20 percent, which created a significant challenge in managing its warehouse productivity and distribution efficiency across 11 smaller facilities. To support its expansion, Rusta partnered with Swisslog to implement an automated central warehouse and distribution center.

Swisslog provided a fully-automated high-bay warehouse solution featuring Vectura stacker cranes and automated empty-pallet handling. This new, centralized supply chain operation center, one of the largest in the Nordic region, substantially improved Rusta's cost-efficiency and accuracy. The facility handles over 3,000 incoming pallets daily and completes approximately 400 e-commerce orders for home delivery, resulting in significant time and cost savings for the retailer.
