A Swisslog Holding Case Study

Preview of the REWE DORTMUND Case Study

REWE DORTMUND cuts transport by 1 million kilometers and reduces energy use 30% with Swisslog Holding

REWE Dortmund, a retail company, undertook a major project to centralize its fresh produce logistics by constructing a new, large-scale logistics center. To streamline material flows for items like dairy, fruit, and vegetables, they partnered with vendor Swisslog Holding for automated and semi-automated pallet technology and software.

Swisslog implemented a solution featuring an automated high-bay warehouse and semi-automated flow storage blocks, all controlled by a material flow computer with a SPOC visualization tool. This new fresh produce hub significantly increased efficiency for REWE Dortmund, resulting in an estimated annual reduction of one million transport kilometers and a 30 percent decrease in energy consumption.
