Northern Tool faced difficulties meeting rising demand with its manual fulfillment processes. To address this, they partnered with Swisslog, which implemented an integrated solution centered on the AutoStore automated storage and retrieval system and SynQ software.

Swisslog's solution combined AutoStore with Northern Tool's existing Packsize packaging technology, enabling orders to be picked directly into right-sized boxes. This automation fully replaced the previous manual pick module, freeing up nearly 50,000 square feet of warehouse space. It also reduced packing costs and freight expenses while providing a scalable system for future growth.
