IMA Spa, a leading designer and manufacturer of automated machines for processing and packaging pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and food/beverage products, needed a more efficient, space-saving warehouse for components used in its packaging machinery. To meet that challenge the company selected Swisslog Holding’s AutoStore solution to automate small-parts storage and speed up goods-to-person picking for the new components warehouse.

Swisslog Holding implemented an AutoStore system with 25,000 bins (about 63,000 locations using internal subdivisions) and integrated goods-to-person workstations, which halved operating time and cut required space by 80 percent. The system achieves inflows of 90 lines/hour (720/day) and outflows of about 340 lines/hour (2,720/day), shortened ramp-up time, and substantially increased IMA Spa’s picking rate and overall efficiency.
