ICA Group, the Nordic region’s largest food retailer, needed a rapid retrofit to replace six 25-year-old stacker cranes in its central High Bay Warehouse to avoid shutdowns and maintain deliveries to stores. They engaged Swisslog Holding to supply and install new Vectura S32 stacker cranes and associated automation control, with a strict seven-week window during the industry off‑peak season.

Swisslog Holding managed the project end-to-end (project management, service and support), mobilizing a core team plus additional specialists to complete the retrofit on schedule; all six Vectura cranes were in operation before the deadline and normal delivery service was unaffected. The upgrade was delivered smoothly, met ICA Group’s timetable and created the foundation for significantly increased future productivity and efficiency in the automated warehouse.
