Bergendahl’s Food - Customer Case Study

Bergendahl’s Food, a family‑owned Swedish retailer with ~4,000 employees and strong e‑commerce growth, faced rapid category and volume expansion (10–15% annually) and needed more warehouse capacity and efficiency without building a new DC or raising labor costs. After a tender process they chose Swisslog Holding to deliver an automated High Bay Warehouse solution including Vectura S32 stacker cranes, ProMove conveyors and WarehouseManager/MFCS controls.

Swisslog Holding installed a compact automated High Bay Warehouse with 17,400 pallet locations on a 4,500 m² footprint, four double‑deep Vectura cranes, a depalletizing unit and integrated WMS, enabling up to 160 pallets/hour. The solution doubled pallet movements within a year, cut personnel costs equivalent to 12 annual salaries, reduced sickness and accidents, improved ergonomics and cut energy needs by ~20% through Swisslog’s GreenLog measures — delivered on time and within budget.
