Arla - Customer Case Study

Arla Foods, a cooperative owned by 12,700 farmers with revenues of EUR 10.3 billion in 2015, needed to improve cold handling of fresh dairy and juice products and future‑proof its intralogistics for higher throughput and efficiency at its Jönköping regional distribution center. Swisslog Holding delivered an automated solution using a monorail conveyor for roll‑in containers, MultiPick robots for plastic‑crate order picking, seven Vectura stacker cranes (to 7 m) with double‑deep racking and satellite cars, plus Swisslog WarehouseManager and AutomationManager software.

Swisslog Holding’s integrated material‑flow system automated buffering, robotic picking and crane handling and combined products from different picking areas into shipping squares for dispatch, resulting in significantly improved overall throughput, more efficient storage, better cold handling and a more ergonomic picking process. According to Arla Foods, the implementation has improved warehouse management and material flow, delivering higher throughput and efficiency across the operation.
