Stena Line, the freight division of the international ferry operator, wanted an e-billing solution that could improve customer experience, support future growth, and be implemented with minimal disruption. Working with Swiss Post Solutions (SPS), they looked for a system that was flexible, easy to use, and tailored to their needs rather than a generic one-size-fits-all platform.

Swiss Post Solutions implemented its E-Billing service, starting with a pilot alongside the existing process before moving customers over to electronic invoicing. The rollout was highly successful: 98% of customer bills are now delivered electronically, around 3,000 customers receive e-bills each month, and adoption reached 46% within 12 months against a 45% target over 18 months. The solution delivered same-day delivery, reduced paper/postage costs and customer queries, saved one customer up to eight hours a week in manual invoice handling, and helped Stena Line cut paper use by the equivalent of more than 30 trees annually.
