Case Study: Austrian Airlines achieves group-wide MRO consolidation and productivity gains with Swiss AviationSoftware (AMOS)

A Swiss AviationSoftware Case Study

Preview of the Austrian Airlines Case Study

Swiss-as and Austrian Airlines Strong Commitment for More Than 10 Years

Austrian Airlines, Austria’s flag carrier and part of the Lufthansa Group, needed to consolidate disparate MRO systems across its group (including Lauda Air and Tyrolean Airways) for a mixed fleet of more than 100 aircraft. The airline sought a corporate MRO solution while AMOS was transitioning from "AMOS Classic" to the Java-based "AMOSNG," and faced major challenges including migrating data from three different sources, defining common corporate processes, and training over 1,000 users. They selected Swiss AviationSoftware’s AMOS as the group-wide MRO platform.

Swiss AviationSoftware implemented AMOSNG and added key functions (e.g., weight & balance and an advanced SAP finance interface), completed the core rollout within 15 months, and used a train-the-trainer model to onboard 1,000+ users; Lauda Air went live in Dec 2002, Austrian Airlines in Jan 2003 and Tyrolean in Mar 2003. As a result of Swiss AviationSoftware’s solution, the group now runs a single MRO system/one database, achieving better process optimization and increased labour productivity, long-term operational stability with regular releases, and advanced capabilities such as FAA/EASA‑approved e-signature.
