Case Study: Alitalia achieves unified MRO operations across five formerly independent airlines with Swiss AviationSoftware's AMOS

A Swiss AviationSoftware Case Study

Preview of the Alitalia Case Study

Alitalia five formerly independent airlines using one AMOS

Alitalia, formed in 2009 from five formerly independent Italian carriers, faced a legacy 30‑year‑old MRO system and the need to standardize IT and maintenance processes across the merged organization to reduce costs and optimize operations. After evaluating nearly 20 MRO solutions, Alitalia chose AMOS from Swiss AviationSoftware to replace disparate systems and support its in‑house line and heavy base maintenance across a 147‑aircraft fleet.

Swiss AviationSoftware implemented AMOS in a 15‑month project that redesigned more than 140 business processes, trained approximately 2,000 users, and deployed a dual interface between AMOS and NetLine/Ops; the cutover was completed on time and on budget with no significant operational disruption. Alitalia also signed for Swiss AviationSoftware’s AMOS Operation Services, and while financial benefits will be quantified after stabilization, the measurable project outcomes include the 15‑month delivery, on‑budget completion, >140 processes standardized and ~2,000 trained.
