Von Roll Migrates Lotus Notes Applications To SharePoint

Von Roll Holding AG, one of Switzerland’s longest-established industrial companies, needed to complete its Lotus Notes exit strategy after moving email off Domino and reducing its worldwide server footprint. The company still had several legacy Notes applications in use, including an ERP application with 7 databases and about 550,000 Notes documents, and needed a way to archive these systems so the final Domino servers could be retired. SWING Software’s Seascape product was evaluated as the solution for this migration and archiving challenge.

SWING Software implemented Seascape to export multiple Notes databases with different designs into centralized storage while preserving each application’s original look and feel, and to move Notes records and metadata into SharePoint libraries. Retired applications were converted into Seascape Web Archives and hosted in SharePoint, giving users a familiar archive experience in a modern interface. The result was a smoother path to decommission the last four Domino servers, with migration work continuing in SharePoint, and the customer highlighted SWING Software’s responsive support and minimal implementation effort.
