A SWING Software Case Study

NCH was able to decommission the Domino server while preserving access to their historical records for future reference

O-I Glass, Inc., a global glass packaging manufacturer, needed to retire a large Lotus Notes and Domino environment across 23 countries. The company started with 110 Domino servers and about 10,000 databases, and turned to SWING Software and its Seascape for Notes product to help preserve historical Notes data during the transition.

SWING Software implemented a gradual decommissioning approach, using Seascape for Notes to archive Lotus Notes applications in a web interface that preserved categorized views, forms, embedded views, doclinks, and PDF output for forms. The project helped O-I Glass reduce its active Notes footprint to fewer than 25 critical applications after four years, while keeping legacy data accessible in a single repository and supporting migration to platforms like SAP, ServiceNow, and SharePoint.
