Case Study: Sika preserves Domino archives and enables full-text search with SWING Software's Seascape Flex

A SWING Software Case Study

Preview of the Sika Case Study

Instead of migrating data from HCL Domino to SharePoint, Sika chose to move data to Seascape Flex web archives.

Sika, a multinational specialty chemicals company, needed to shut down its HCL Domino and HCL Notes environment by the end of 2024 while keeping around 200 read-only applications accessible for long-term archive use. SWING Software evaluated with Sika on migration options, including SWING Seascape for Notes, which needed to preserve data integrity and Notes-specific elements such as rich text, embedded views, document links, and attachments.

SWING Software implemented Seascape for Notes to export the data into standalone web archives, coupled with the Seascape Flex server for Active Directory authentication, full-text search, and single sign-on access. The archive interface kept the familiar Notes-like layout and retained multiple document views, and Sika migrated large databases up to 50GB and more than 50,000 documents in just 6 weeks, with the overall project expected to finish ahead of schedule.
