Wolters Kluwer Italia, the Italian division of the global publisher, needed to modernize its aging SAP environment while improving scalability, flexibility, reliability, and cost efficiency. To avoid vendor lock-in and support its growing business, the company looked for an SAP-certified open source platform and chose Suse, specifically SUSE Linux Enterprise Server with Xen virtualization.

Suse implemented SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on Unisys ES7000 servers, enabling Wolters Kluwer Italia to virtualize and consolidate its SAP infrastructure across two data centers. The result was lower hardware and software costs, faster server provisioning, improved resilience with rapid failover to a secondary site, and much better hardware utilization—allowing new virtual servers to be deployed in minutes.
