Vonpar, one of Brazil’s largest Coca-Cola franchises, needed to scale its SAP ERP environment after introducing new modules that pushed computing demand far beyond its existing Windows and Intel infrastructure. To improve performance, simplify maintenance, and reduce IT costs, the company looked to Suse for a Linux-based platform, using Suse Linux Enterprise Server with built-in Xen virtualization and SAP support.

Suse implemented a migration of Vonpar’s SAP applications and databases to eight virtualized Suse Linux Enterprise Server environments on three new servers. The new setup improved performance, reliability, and security while reducing hardware costs by around 75%, software costs by 20%, and power costs by 12.5%; Vonpar also estimated IT productivity rose by about 30% and administrative workload fell by 10% to 20%.
