Verspieren - Customer Case Study

Verspieren, the French insurance broker, wanted to replace green-screen IBM 3270 interfaces with user-friendly front ends for its mainframe-based business applications. To support internal staff, clients, and business partners, Verspieren chose Suse’s SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z to run IBM WebSphere Portal software alongside its existing IBM DB2 for z/OS environment.

Suse implemented a mainframe-based SUSE Linux Enterprise Server environment hosting 15 portals, plus IBM Content Navigator instances, all tightly integrated with Verspieren’s core databases. The result was a highly reliable, secure, and easy-to-manage platform with 24/7 availability, high performance, and low operational costs; Verspieren reported no problems with the environment and expects to move more key applications onto it.
