The University of Bologna, one of the world’s largest universities, was struggling with heavy paper-based administration, long student queues, and time-consuming manual record updates during enrollment and exams. To reduce delays and paperwork, it turned to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for its web applications and Oracle-based systems.

SUSE implemented a scalable platform built on SUSE Linux Enterprise and Oracle RAC, enabling online course enrollment, fee payment, and academic record management. The result was a major reduction in manual effort and administrative costs, faster services for students and staff, and a stable infrastructure that expanded to more than 70 servers at the University of Bologna.
