A Suse Case Study
The New South Wales Fire Brigades needed a more reliable, lower-cost platform for its mission-critical SAP ERP environment, which had reached end-of-life and become difficult to manage across many physical servers. The organization also needed a solution fully supported by SAP and capable of delivering high availability and virtualization with minimal performance impact, so it turned to Suse.
Suse implemented SUSE Linux Enterprise Server with VMware virtualization, along with Priority Support for SAP Applications and NetIQ Identity Manager, creating a clustered and more resilient SAP environment. The results included reduced hardware and infrastructure costs, improved availability and performance, easier disaster recovery, and faster provisioning; the fire brigades also gained a single point of contact for support through Suse and SAP.
