STATISTICS AUSTRIA - Customer Case Study

STATISTICS AUSTRIA, Austria’s national statistical office, needed a lean, cost-effective IT environment to support highly specialized in-house statistical software, advanced visualizations, and existing applications as demand for accurate statistics kept growing. The organization partnered with Suse and standardized on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server across its IBM z Systems, IBM Power Systems, and x86 servers.

Suse implemented SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as a single operating system across all hardware platforms, enabling STATISTICS AUSTRIA to move applications between systems as needed and simplify operations. The result was about 100 virtual servers running smoothly, reduced management and maintenance effort, lower operating costs, and improved flexibility and reliability for mission-critical services like the Personal Inflation Calculator and Road Traffic Accident Map.
