SIEN, the IT service provider for public authorities in Switzerland’s canton of Neuchâtel, needed faster reporting and analytics to help government decision-makers allocate limited budgets more effectively. Working with Suse, SIEN moved to SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation on SAP HANA using SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications.

Suse implemented a high-performance, certified SAP HANA platform on virtualized Dell, NetApp, and Brocade infrastructure, with backup and resilience features to support 24/7 operations. The result was major performance gains: some reporting workloads that once took up to three days now finish in about two hours, a 97% improvement, with higher stability and no unplanned downtime in the test environment.
