Rackspace Technology, a global hybrid cloud provider, faced a major support challenge when Red Hat ended support for RHEL 4, leaving many customers needing a longer transition period and unified patch management across multiple Linux distributions. To maintain Fanatical Support while reducing complexity, Rackspace turned to Suse, using Suse Manager and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server with Expanded Support.

Suse implemented a scalable, high-availability patch management environment and provided professional services to deploy and transfer knowledge. The result was about a year saved in deployment time, lower costs than Red Hat, simplified management from a single pane of glass, and stronger customer adoption — with over 50% of new managed/dedicated cloud workloads choosing CentOS backed by Suse within three months.
