Orchard Park Police Department - Customer Case Study

The Orchard Park Police Department needed a way to support body cameras, surveillance cameras, and operational data while meeting legal retention requirements and avoiding network strain. Working with Suse, the department chose SUSE Enterprise Storage and SUSE Professional Services to replace a hardware-limited approach with a scalable, software-defined storage platform.

Suse implemented an open, Ceph-based SUSE Enterprise Storage solution and helped install and support the system on-site. The result was an 80-terabyte base configuration that allowed the department to retain video data as needed, support critical surveillance tools, and maintain steady performance at 400–500 IOPS with zero downtime and no network degradation.
