A Suse Case Study
Mahindra Retail, part of the Mahindra Group, needed a cost-effective SAP platform that could deliver high performance and strong availability as it expanded its Mom & Me retail chain from a few stores to 100 outlets. The company wanted to avoid the expense of proprietary UNIX while supporting mission-critical ERP growth, so it evaluated options with help from SUSE.
SUSE implemented SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on HP blade servers for Mahindra Retail’s SAP ERP environment, using built-in high-availability clustering for the Oracle database, SAP central instance, and applications. The result was a low-cost, enterprise-class platform with excellent reliability and response times; users reported “perfect availability,” and Mahindra Retail gained a strong price/performance advantage while reducing support and high-availability software costs.
