Lumen Technologies, a telecommunications company, faced the challenge of modernizing its legacy IT infrastructure and simplifying the considerable cost and complexity of its on-premises data centers. To support its strategic evolution into a multi-cloud model and prepare for AI-driven growth, Lumen needed a single enterprise-grade platform to manage and secure Kubernetes clusters at scale. The solution implemented by SUSE provided Lumen with a unified container management platform, integrating SUSE Rancher Prime, SUSE Security, and SUSE Storage. This streamlined multi-cluster management, enforced consistent security policies, and provided resilient storage. The results included modernizing hundreds of legacy workloads, reducing a procurement process from six steps to two, and completing a deal in under 24 hours through the Microsoft marketplace. SUSE's solution significantly improved engineering efficiency, provided greater control and stability, and gave Lumen the agility to seamlessly move workloads between cloud providers.
