A Suse Case Study
KEONICS, the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd., wanted to expand its IT training and hosted services by using its IBM mainframe more effectively. As it moved beyond non-critical Debian workloads, it needed an enterprise Linux platform with strong vendor support and the reliability to host mission-critical government applications. KEONICS evaluated options and selected Suse Linux Enterprise Server for System z.
Suse worked with KEONICS and IBM to migrate workloads smoothly onto the mainframe, running applications in virtualized partitions and enabling both client services and internal ERP systems. The result was 100% uptime for mission-critical applications, up to 50% lower maintenance costs, and better scalability and security, while KEONICS also gained a platform for training and future service expansion.
