IRIS - Customer Case Study

IRIS, a Belgium-based member of the Canon Group and key competence center in information management, needed a cost-effective way to provide highly scalable object and mass storage for clients who wanted low-cost storage for media files and other infrequently accessed data. Working with Suse, IRIS looked for a solution that could support managed services without the high licensing and management overhead of traditional software-defined storage.

Suse implemented SUSE Enterprise Storage powered by Ceph, with supporting tools and expertise to simplify deployment and ongoing management on commodity hardware. The result was enterprise-class storage that delivered low-cost, scalable, resilient block/file/object storage, reused existing hardware to keep costs down, and enabled non-disruptive scaling with automated self-healing and high availability.
