The Gregor Mendel Institute of Molecular Plant Biology needed faster access to high-performance computing resources and the latest computational tools to handle rapidly growing plant research data. Suse implemented an enterprise-ready private cloud that integrated with the institute’s existing HPC cluster, enabling self-service access to virtual machines. The result was a major reduction in provisioning time: scientists can now get their own VMs in as little as 10 minutes instead of waiting weeks or months. This also improved agility, reduced the HPC team’s workload, and supported faster experimentation and innovation across the institute.
