Gaining a Fast and Stable Development Platform

Allone, a Taiwan-based IT services and software development company serving major financial institutions, needed a fast, stable development platform for trading and financial software that could run on IBM mainframes without the cost and delay of learning IBM z/OS from scratch. The company also wanted to avoid buying its own mainframe just for development and testing, while still meeting clients’ demands for low-latency, highly reliable systems. Allone chose SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z to help address this challenge.

With support from Suse and IBM, Allone ported its Java-based trading applications to the mainframe, using training, testing access, and hands-on assistance to speed adoption. The result was a smooth transition to a highly stable and scalable platform that expanded Allone’s product range and gave clients a cost-effective way to run trading systems on existing mainframes. According to Allone, Suse enabled them to serve a customer set they could not have supported otherwise, while delivering high availability, throughput, and lower cost.
