Fabbrica Automatismi Apertura Cancelli - Customer Case Study

Fabbrica Automatismi Apertura Cancelli (FAAC), the Italian manufacturer of automated access control solutions, needed a lower-cost alternative to its IBM i-based SAP ERP platform. The company wanted to preserve the reliability and security of its existing environment while reducing the high maintenance and operating costs, and it evaluated Linux options including SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from Suse.

FAAC chose Suse and, with H4T, migrated its SAP applications and IBM DB2 databases to a three-node AMD Opteron cluster running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server with High Availability Extension. The result was a seamless migration with no disruption for users, SAP response times improved by about 50%, maintenance costs fell by 50%, and system management effort was reduced by up to 15%.
