A Suse Case Study
EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, one of Germany’s largest electricity providers, needed to lower operating costs without compromising the reliability of its SAP and Oracle-based mission-critical systems. After running 350 SAP instances on Solaris servers, EnBW evaluated new options and turned to Suse, looking for a more functional, reliable, and cost-effective platform.
Suse helped EnBW migrate to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and deploy SUSE Manager on new Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers. The result was strong performance for SAP and Oracle workloads, a much smaller physical server footprint, lower power, cooling, and data center costs, less unplanned downtime, and faster access to new SAP functionality. EnBW also used SUSE Manager to automate management tasks, saving time and reducing manual effort.
