Case Study: Coop achieves faster, more reliable kiosk operations with SUSE Linux Enterprise

A Suse Case Study

Preview of the Coop Case Study

Coop - Customer Case Study

Coop, Switzerland’s largest retail group, needed to move its 1,200 Superbox info terminals from Microsoft Windows to a more standardized Linux platform to cut maintenance costs and support its corporate strategy. The company worked with Suse and used SUSE Linux Enterprise Point of Service for the migration.

Suse helped Coop build a compressed bootable image with the Superbox 2 application and roll it out via technicians in stores. The 1,200 kiosks were migrated in just 14 weeks, each upgrade took about 30 minutes, patching workload dropped by about 30 percent, and the new platform improved reliability, standardization, and future automatic updates and software installation.
