A Suse Case Study
The Centre for Human Drug Research (CHDR), a healthcare research organization in the Netherlands, wanted to introduce hot-desking and flexible, consistent access to desktops, data, and applications across office, home, and mobile use. To avoid replacing more than 100 existing PCs, CHDR worked with Suse and Netflex to create a thin-client approach using VMware View and SUSE Studio.
Suse helped Netflex build a stripped-down Linux image on bootable USB keys that turned CHDR’s existing desktop PCs into secure kiosks. The solution delivered rapid deployment, reused current hardware, and provided a fast, consistent user experience with short boot times and centralized management; CHDR also reported reduced need for new hardware investment and improved performance across devices.
