A Suse Case Study
BSE Ltd., Asia’s oldest stock exchange, needed a more agile and cost-efficient IT environment to support more than 40 million monthly trades while maintaining nonstop availability. To address its inflexible one-application-per-server setup and rising infrastructure costs, BSE turned to Suse and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.
Suse implemented a highly virtualized SUSE Linux Enterprise Server environment, using Xen virtualization and the SUSE Linux Enterprise Virtual Machine Driver Pack across core systems like ERP, databases, email, and development platforms. The result was a stable, secure foundation with 24 virtual servers on seven physical machines, improved flexibility for rapid IT changes, and an estimated 50 percent reduction in operating and maintenance costs.
