Banque du Liban - Customer Case Study

Banque du Liban, Lebanon’s central bank, needed a more cost-efficient way to run its growing Oracle database landscape while ensuring its IT systems stayed available around the clock. As licensing costs rose on commodity x86 servers, the bank looked to SUSE and its Linux Enterprise Server for IBM z Systems and LinuxONE to support its core business applications.

SUSE implemented SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for IBM z Systems on Banque du Liban’s IBM z13 mainframes, consolidating workloads and using IFL processors with IBM z/VM virtualization. The result was about a 60% reduction in Oracle licensing costs, along with better performance, availability, and mainframe utilization, enabling Banque du Liban to deliver services more efficiently and support future growth.
