A Suse Case Study

Appriss - Customer Case Study

Appriss, a U.S. software provider serving public safety, healthcare, and commercial customers, needed a fast, highly available, secure platform to support 24x7x365 access to its large databases and Java-based applications. As its server footprint grew, Appriss also needed a better way to manage patching and reduce exposure to security vulnerabilities, which led it to adopt Suse solutions including SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and SUSE Manager.

Suse implemented SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, the High Availability Extension, and SUSE Manager to replace older platforms, improve uptime, and automate server management across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. The results included $80,000 in Oracle licensing savings, quarterly patching instead of every two years, a four-hour patch cycle for 500–600 servers, and less downtime risk with all nine IT engineers able to support Linux systems.
