Aché, a Brazilian pharmaceutical company, needed a cost-effective high availability solution for its SAP HANA database to avoid service interruptions across critical ERP systems. After comparing options, Aché chose Suse and its SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications along with the SUSE High Availability Extension.

Suse implemented the solution with partner SSYS on Aché’s new Dell R930 Appliances for HANA, and the rollout was completed smoothly in about three to four months. The result was a reliable failover setup that worked flawlessly in testing and automated recovery without human intervention, plus performance gains from kernel tuning; Aché also reported workloads running 30 to 110 times faster than its Oracle implementation in tests.
