A Survalent Case Study
Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative, a not-for-profit electric utility serving rural communities across central Ohio, needed a better way to monitor and manage its widely dispersed network of 8,200 meters across 1,300 miles of line in 10 counties. With crews often hours away from trouble spots, the utility turned to Survalent and its SurvalentONE SCADA & OMS platform to improve remote visibility, control, and outage response.
Survalent helped Mid-Ohio Energy implement SCADA, GIS mapping, AMI integration, and an outage management system that connected with its CIS, trouble call system, and customer outage portal. As a result, the cooperative reduced SAIDI from 128 minutes in 2009 to 46 minutes in 2016, a 64% decrease, and raised its ACSI score to 87, while also improving outage location accuracy, crew coordination, and customer communication.
