A Survalent Case Study
Scottsboro Electric Power Board, a municipally owned utility in Scottsboro, Alabama, needed a way to participate in TVA’s conservation voltage regulation program while meeting reporting requirements and maintaining stable voltage across its network. After already using SurvalentONE SCADA and other Survalent applications for years, the utility turned to Survalent and its Dynamic Voltage Regulation (DVR) software to support the new effort.
Survalent implemented SurvalentONE DVR, working with Scottsboro Electric Power Board to integrate the system with existing ADMS, AMI, and voltage regulation equipment and to configure TVA-compliant reports. The solution helped the utility reduce wholesale electricity costs, smooth daily peak demand, and improve network stability; it also detected low-voltage conditions that were corrected through zone adjustments. Over time, Scottsboro Electric Power Board said SurvalentONE DVR enabled it to trim electricity costs and increase the reliability of its distribution network.
