Case Study: Consolidated Electric Cooperative saves money and improves operational efficiency with SurvalentONE DVR from Survalent

A Survalent Case Study

Preview of the Consolidated Electric Cooperative Case Study

With SurvalentONE DVR, Consolidated Electric Cooperative is able to improve operational efficiency and save money by avoiding peak demand charges

Consolidated Electric Cooperative, a member-owned electric utility serving 17,000 meters across eight counties in Ohio, needed a better way to manage voltage and reduce costly peak demand charges. Before working with Survalent, the cooperative had to dispatch field crews manually to adjust substation voltages whenever peak alerts were issued, which created inefficiency and added operating costs.

Survalent implemented SurvalentONE SCADA with the SurvalentONE Dynamic Voltage Regulation (DVR) application, giving Consolidated Electric centralized, automated voltage control across its substations. The system now runs unattended to keep voltages near the minimum limit, helping the utility level off its demand curve and save money; according to the customer, the savings from SurvalentONE DVR paid for the entire SCADA installation.
