A Survalent Case Study
Peninsula Light Company, the second-largest member-owned cooperative in the Northwest United States, needed to improve reliability and operational efficiency while modernizing an aging grid spread across rugged terrain and heavy tree cover. To move from fourth-quartile to first-quartile reliability, the utility sought an advanced distribution management system from Survalent that could support a gradual, future-ready ADMS rollout, improve field data accuracy, and help a small team manage increasing complexity.
Survalent implemented the SurvalentONE ADMS platform with offline project-based data validation, integrated status and control, FLISR capabilities, and tools to streamline GIS imports and equipment deployment, supported by redundant servers and resilient communications. The result was little to no unplanned downtime, better storm response, and major productivity gains: Peninsula Light Company eliminated unnecessary site visits, freed up about 80% of one full-time employee’s time previously spent on SCADA crashes and restarts, and reduced new substation setup from several hours to under an hour using templates.
