Monitoring Energy Storage Services Remotely and Cutting Costs

Seongnam City Medical Center, a newly built hospital in South Korea, needed a way to remotely monitor its energy storage services system for peak load management and backup power while taking advantage of discounted electricity rates from KEPCO. The hospital wanted better visibility into battery performance metrics, along with a scalable, flexible system and remote alerting to help respond quickly to critical events. Survalent provided the technology through its Synergy Energy Management System (EMS).

Working with WONLEE Solution Co. Ltd., Survalent implemented Synergy EMS to monitor and manage the hospital’s ESS, including peak load shedding and battery operations. The solution added remote alarm annunciation, alarm suppression, an external alarm bell, OPC server connectivity, control panel/IED wizard, and command sequencing, and Seongnam City Medical Center reported more than $11,700 in energy cost savings in one year.
