A Survalent Case Study
Holy Cross Energy (HCE), a rural electric cooperative in Colorado, faced the challenge of increasing grid reliability and renewable energy use while managing a growing number of distributed energy resources (DERs). They needed to improve power quality, secure data, and implement short-term load forecasting to optimize consumption. To address this, HCE partnered with vendor Survalent and other organizations to find a solution using the SurvalentONE ADMS platform.
The solution involved Survalent collaborating to identify algorithms and communication protocols for integrating DERs at scale without requiring expensive new technology. Using SurvalentONE ADMS, the project tested the integration of these new protocols with legacy systems to provide real-time grid services and increase DER hosting capacity. The ultimate goal was to add more load flexibility controllers to help manage peak loads through deferral and demand-response applications.
