Central Georgia EMC uses SurvalentONE PSM to improve reliability, productivity, and uptime

Central Georgia EMC, a nonprofit electric cooperative in Georgia serving more than 56,000 customers, needed a better way to preserve relay coordination, manage abnormal switching, and reduce outage times as it modernized its grid. The utility turned to SurvalentONE Protection Settings Manager (PSM) from Survalent to support its distribution automation and FLISR operations.

With SurvalentONE PSM, Survalent gave Central Georgia EMC automated, rules-based control over protection settings for about 300 relays, ensuring the correct settings group was applied during events, maintenance, and restoration. The solution helped the utility avoid miscoordination, speed recovery during outages such as Hurricane Irma, simplify operator workloads, and cut customer outage times in half over the past couple of years.
