A SURF Case Study
The Groninger Forum, a public cultural center in the Netherlands, was facing performance issues and instability with its existing Wi-Fi network. The challenge was to improve the network's quality and outsource its management, which was handled by a single internal staff member. The vendor SURF was engaged to address this using its SURFwireless service.
SURF implemented a pilot project to take over the management of the existing network. They began by performing a technical analysis and physical measurement of the Wi-Fi environment. Based on this, SURF created and executed an improvement plan, which included reconfiguring and adding new access points. The solution resulted in a stable, complaint-free Wi-Fi experience, proven during a busy student term with no performance issues reported. SURF also planned further optimizations to prepare for the customer's move to a new building.
